Social Media Guide

Building your Online Presence

Finding your Voice on the Internet

3 Steps to start Sharing, Connecting and Growing

Picture

Step 1:
Choose your Platform(s).

Forget the idea that you need to be everywhere. You’re just one person - and that’s more than enough. What matters is showing up where your people are.

So, who’s your audience? And where do they hang out online?
Chances are, you already have an idea.

Start small - one or two platforms is more than enough when you're just getting going.
Here’s a quick look at the Curaçao social media scene:
  • Facebook - Popular with the 35-55+ crowd. Great for updates, reviews, and events.
  • Instagram - Loved by the 15-45 crowd. Perfect for visuals, reels, and short stories.
  • TikTok - All about short videos, trends, and Gen Z vibes - seen internationally.
  • LinkedIn - Best for B2B and professional services with an international reach.
  • Pinterest - A dreamland for creatives, DIY projects, and evergreen content.
  • YouTube - Amazing for how-to’s, behind-the-scenes, and repurposing content.

Pick your platforms, then create your account(s) - PS: Google has tutorials for everything!

Step 2:
Choose your Message.

Social media advice is all over the place. There’s a lot of noise out there telling you how to “win” at social media. But if there’s one golden rule to hold onto, it’s this: be authentic.
People are tired of polished sales talk and overused gimmicks.

What do they really want? They want something real. Something human. Audiences around the world want to relate, connect, share, and sometimes - just escape into your story for a moment.

So as you start thinking about what kind of content to create, ask yourself:
  • What do I want to share with the world?
  • How does what I do make someone’s day a little better?
  • If I could help just one person, what would I want them to take from my story?

It’s really that simple. You and your business have a story to tell.
You don’t have to be perfect - just be genuine.

Step 3: Make a Planner.

You’ve picked your platform(s). You know what you want to say. Now comes the fun part - bringing it all to life. Instead of flying by the seat of your pants, plan ahead in three-month chunks. It keeps things manageable and gives you room to adjust.

Let's be honest - Curaçao runs on events and holidays - and so should your content.
Every big business taps into the local calendar. You can too, on your terms.

Here is a simple Example: January / February / March = Festival di Tumba /  Karnaval / Lent.

Does it tie into your business? Great. Use it. If not - skip it. You make the rules.
Now think about your content mix and ask yourself:
  • Weekly or biweekly posts (= which pace works best for you?)
  • Monthly themes or promos (= based on what’s happening locally.)
  • Local events or holidays (= ride the wave, don’t reinvent it.)
  • Tips, testimonials, behind-the-scenes, before/after (= keep it human.)

💡 Tips: And remember: To leave a little wriggle room for yourself and content creating.
Trends move fast - when something catches fire, you’ll want to jump on it.
